Richard Mair is Assistant Professor in Neurosurgical Oncology at the University of Cambridge and Honorary Consultant Neurosurgeon at Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge. He co-directs the CRUK Brain Cancer Virtual Institute. 

He leads a research group dedicated to the study of brain tumours. He is interested in exploring how brain tumours evolve in response to microenvironmental perturbation and whether these insights can be used to better diagnose and treat patients.

He runs a weekly clinic and theatre list that specialises in the management of patents with brain cancer. He leads the Minderoo Precision Brain Tumour Programme and has extensive experience in recruiting patients to clinical trials
